Dober Dan (from Dan, posted by Ryan)

It has been a long day of travel, but we’re trucking along. First thing this morning we snuck James and Jon out of our Munchen hotel and got on the U Bahn to pick up our rental car. The directions were vague, and I insisted that the car agency was down a long garden path into a park. We saw lots of little pretty huts with satellite dishes, but no Europcar. Turns out I was wrong. The agency was in the other direction. Who knew? It was cloudy and I couldn’t use the sun as a reference. James almost mutinied, but I told him to put his head down and power through.
Anyways, eventually we set off for Salzburg, making a few excursions up some back roads in the Bavarian Alps where we saw the house from Heidi. We also saw some cows mounting and almost bought some Tyrolean hats. Around 3 pm, James noticed he hadn’t been fed yet. I told him to put his head down and power through. (Jk. I commiserated; one time I was on vacation and they wouldn’t let me eat, either.) When we got to Salzburg, we had a hard time finding the tourist area, but eventually made it to the beer hall. Jon and I had to drink double beer because Ryan and James refused to do their share. It was like the Coors Brewery all over again—but with sausages.
Then we drove through the Alps as the sky darkened. It was spectacular, any pics can’t do it justice. You could see many chalets perched on hillsides from the autobahn, but we couldn’t figure out how the homeowners got up there. By the time we got into Slovenia, including a wrong turn into a Volkswagen convention at a casino and a little ribbing by some drunken border officials :“amigos, where are your documents?” (while he had them in his hand)—we got into Ljubljana.
Hopping little town. Locals and tourists of all types wandering everywhere. Jon and I saw some Slovenians singing along in a horrible accent to Sean Paul. Then another car drove by and a drunken partier puked on the sidewalk. Our hotel is interesting: under complete renovation; it feels like we moved into an unfinished house. But it is clean and the clerk is very friendly.
Ok it is after midnight, and we have to be up at 7 30 to move our sweet Opel Vectra before we get a ticket. Post ya later.
Na Svidenje.

Great pictures. Beautiful. Lush and green. It must be fascinating driving with all the different sights and sounds....not to shortchange the barfing and all. Sheesh. You seem to find ways to access the web. I'll be interested to hear how you managed to do that on such a regular basis. I hope you found a Burger King for James!
it is about time i see some pictures of places.I was beginning to think this whole europe trip was a scam and you all were really hiding out in branson or the white mountains. just kiddin.the surroundings look soo beautiful.what is the tempature?youall have coats except james (and he florida boy).tpye you soon
hey guys. i just saw x-men 3. thought you'd like to know. those pictures are very nice. try to dress up in funny stuff and take a picture of that. thats always fun for everyone. Ryan and James ill expect to yous to drink double the beer next time. dont make Jon and Dan do all the work. its not christian. bye bye.
I agree with LaPointe, you guys should atleast pose funny or something like that in one of your pictures. I know that it will come easily to Ryan, but the rest of you should atleast make an effort for us pathetic viewers at home. :) I think too that you guys should come up with a challenge for your next stop and then let us know what it is and how it went. I was going to try to suggest something, but Dan is much better at that than me. Alright well I think you guys should be up in about a half an hour. Happy travels. gnite
who's that peeing?
Thanks guys, for taking the time to post all the nice pictures and your experiences! I've been missing the Amazing Race since the season ended and this is almost as good!
Sounds like you guys are having an amazing adventure! Those pictures are awesome! I so want to be there. And you saw my house? Were the goats there? How are the little buggas? Keep posting so we can all live vicariously through you.
And all of you drink a beer for Heidikins!
HiLo there folks! While you guys are havin' a grand ol' time over there, I'm doing a little jig over here. Why you ask? Well, it's nice to know you're interested... well, it is FINALLY official. What you ask? Patience, patience... I'm going to Italy and Greece in September! YAY! "Good for you Jackie. That sounds very exciting. We are all very happy for you" Why thanks guys, so very considerate of you to be happy for me while out having your own adventures... Haha.
Okay, now that that's done... I also saw X3. It was pretty good. I love your pictures. So much so, I have stolen them for myself and put them in a folder on my computer (yup, you guys have your very own folder). Although, (this is mainly for Ryan who has much knowledge of computers...) my lap top crashed competely. Yeeeup, it hit the bucket, it's dead. I have to talk to some random tech guy to hopefully try to fix it.. where is ryan when ya need him? Oh, in Europe of course!
Alright, well hope you guys are still havin' fun. I'll be lookin' forward to your next post! Make sure to have plenty of pictures, and I do agree with Alissa/David, funny pics would be nice.
CHOW! =D
Just got back from the hall where RBC and local volunteers have been busily installing carpeting, trim, doing final mortar work, landscaping, etc. We took the big circus tent down and have been power washing the parking lot. Not nearly as much fun as driving thru the Alps!!! Make sure you buy plenty of REEEEEEEEEECOLA!! You should take pictures blowing on some of those big horns too. And where are the pictures featuring buildings that look like food? C'mon. I want to see some cheezy American architecture. Bye.
Hey guys! Since i have the tendency to live vicariously through others, I have limited my visits to this blog to once a day (I even skipped yesterday.)But since I am checknig early today I may have to break my rule ... And I have avoided posting anything out of fear that I will become completely preoccupied with this. OH WELL, to late for that, but at least I'm not the only one. Anywho, it looks like you're having a great time and I will fourth that funny picture motion:) Overalls and fake mustaches would be great!!
cindy wrote that last comment with my name!! identity stealer!!
to la pointe, alissa, imy and "some/most of all our readers":
i am happy you all have such strong opinions about what content we should post. unfortunately, i never have, and do not plan to begin to, pander to public opinion.
jon would like to add something:
This is our vaction we are glad you are following along and very interested in what is going on, but we will not be taking requests on what to post or anything else for that matter. Happy Reading!
dan again: if you are interested, i hear there is a site with a man dressed in a chicken suit. you type in commands and he does whatever you want. i'll have ryan find it for you.
ryan says no. he thinks we are overreacting.
(james laughs in background)
i apologize if i sound a bit harsh. you've caught me at a bad moment. the slovenian language is so hard.
but jon doesn't apologize.
dan

I think at the moment I shall only be talking to James and Ryan. James and Ryan, please tell Dan that I am training for bartending at the castle. Tonight was my first night and I loved it. :) Goodnight James and Ryan, I miss you guys ...the others, not so much. :)
Hey Dan maybe you should dance in a chicken suit across the Bavarian alps with a beer in hand. Sounds as if you didn't get your afternoon nap!! Still pretty funny stuff
Your not missing anything here--I don't know about fierce but you seemed pretty scary to me!! Keep having fun!!
Love , Krazy Mary
i knew this blog would go to dan's head. now he feels he has us under his control and we will be his puppets (dance puppets dance)
you know dan wouldn't have this technical power with out ryan.Ryan you're the one that has the power to over throw "Puppet Master Dan" you should add in what the people want. After all this blog is nothing without its readers and we have the power to Boycott it
Yeah so uh... how 'bout them Red Sox?
(personally I don't like 'em but...)
Dan,
Gee.
Dave
Dan, I see you guys with the beautiful mountains in the background, so serene. It reminds of is Bushnell Park at night, with all the muggings and gun fire going off in the back ground. Hmmmm...it so feels like home!
Yes I think Dan (and a little bit of Jon)was just cranky. We have funny stuff lined up too, but it may not involve Dan (and a little bit of Jon)as much. Please dont let his ranting get you all down. Thanks, rYaN :)

Dan,
I think I can speak for many of us in our awful lives and say that were all bitting our tounges by not saying anything to those comments.
I think we have an imposter posing as Dan. That last post from Dan (now DELETED) was done when we were all sleeping and it was a little rude. Please refrain from doing this...
Thanks,
The Management
